PHOTO TOUR DAILY SCHEDULE

Day 1 – Arrival, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Passo Giau

On your first day in Italy, we’ll meet you at 11am in the arrival hall of Venice Marco Polo airport.
Our tour operator will help you find the best solution for travel and will give you all the information you need to reach the meeting point.
In case your flight arrives a long time before, we will help you find a hotel near Venice. You can take advantage of this time to visit the city and the meeting with our tutor will be directly at your hotel instead of at the airport.

Once together we will leave for Cortina d’Ampezzo, our base for the first 2 days.
After a good lunch with typical food of the area we will settle down at the hotel and have a short rest before going out to photograph the sunset.
The first photo session of the trip will be near Passo Giau, a very famous place among landscape photographers.
After sunset we’ll drive for a few minutes to our hotel and have typical alpine dinner.

Accommodation: Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL)

Day 2 – Federa Lake and Tre Cime di Lavaredo Natural Park

Before dawn we will reach the enchanting Lake Federa by off-road jeep, where the larches illuminated by the first rays of the sun shine with orange and yellow hues.
After sunrise we can continue to photograph around the lake as long as we want, before taking the jeeps again for the return to the hotel, where breakfast will be waiting for us.
The rest of the morning will be dedicated to some rest, while after lunch we will head towards the Tre Cime di Lavaredo Natural Park, where we will take pictures until sunset.
After sunset and a typical dinner in a mountain hut near Lake Misurina we will return to our hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Accommodation: Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL)

Day 3 – Cinque Torri, Dobbiaco and Anterselva Lake

The sunrise photo session will be at Cinque Torri (Five Peaks), a beautiful group of rocks near Passo Falzarego. There are many remnants of World War I left by Italian troops in this area, it is often called an open air museum.

We’ll have the opportunity to shoot this little mountains and visit the trenches, then we will return to the hotel for breakfast and some rest.

It’s already time to leave our accommodation to move to a new area to explore and photograph.
In about 30 minutes by car we will reach the town of Dobbiaco, where we can have lunch and place our luggage at the hotel.

Throughout the afternoon until sunset we will photograph the wonderful and little-known lake of Anterselva (30 minutes from Dobbiaco), with its shores dotted with larch and fir trees.
After sunset we will return to Dobbiaco for dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Accommodation: Dobbiaco (BZ)

Day 4 – Braies Lake, Val di Funes and Odle Mountains

Sunrise will be in a special place known throughout the world, Lake Braies, which certainly needs no introduction as it is among the most famous in the Dolomites.
We will be able to walk along its banks until the sun rises, when the first rays will illuminate the surrounding mountains which, with a little luck, will be reflected in the waters of the lake.
Its emerald waters are usually calm in the morning, which is great for photography.

After breakfast at the hotel and some rest we will pack our bags to move on to the next destination.

In just over 1 hour by car we will reach the Val di Funes, a picturesque alpine valley with cozy houses and famous churches.
We will have lunch in a typical alpine restaurant and we will settle down in the hotel that will host us for the night.
We will spend the afternoon until sunset photographing some of the best spots in the area, including the famous cherry tree that overlooks the valley with the Odle mountains in the background.
After sunset we will return to the hotel to enjoy a tasty typical dinner.

Accommodation: Val di Funes (BZ)

Day 5 – Val di Funes, San Giovanni chapel, Passo delle Erbe, Passo Gardena and Passo Sella, Val di Fassa and Lake San Pellegrino

At dawn we will photograph the famous church of San Giovanni in Ranui, a small chapel that stands on the edge of the wood with the Odle range in the background.

After the usual breakfast and a little rest we will set off again towards the next stage of the journey.

In the morning we will make a photo stop at Passo delle Erbe and then continue towards the Val di Fassa and the surrounding mountains.
During the transfer we will cross some famous mountain passes such as Passo Gardena and Passo Sella, from which you can admire and photograph beautiful mountains such as the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto group.

After lunch and accommodation in the hotel, we will spend the afternoon photographing the surroundings of the Val di Fassa and in particular for the sunset we will move to Lake San Pellegrino.

After sunset we will return to the hotel to enjoy a tasty typical dinner.

Accommodation: Moena (TN)

Day 6 – Lake Carezza and Departure

On our last day of travel, we will start the day by photographing Lake Carezza at dawn, one of the most famous alpine lakes in the area, in whose waters the Latemar massif is reflected.

After breakfast we prepare our luggage and leave for the Venice airport, which we will reach around 2pm.

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

Very well organized workshop, with excellent choice of locations and the best times to photograph them. Gabriele was always professional and available to give advice and explanations. The excellent company of the other workshop participants made the experience even more positive.

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

Great experience. The organization of the workshop was impeccable: even though I already knew the locations very well, I was struck by the ability of the organizer (Gabriele) to make the most of the light and the composition in each place. Gabriele proved to be a highly trained professional, always available to explain the various shooting techniques, suggesting the best settings and compositions.

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

A truly special and unique experience, I was very satisfied with the professionalism of the teachers, excellent organization, we were followed step by step both in the practical and in the theoretical part in the classroom. Attentive to the needs of the group and the needs of individual participants.

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

This workshop was helpful to me for many technical and field approach aspects. First of all I was able to see with the eyes of an expert like Gabriele how to observe and how to move on the field and make the most of the situations, or how to solve it with different shots and compositions if the light is not the ideal ally to bring home satisfactory shots. Following small purely compositional tricks, I immediately noticed an improvement in my shots.
Anyone who wants to understand the concept of light-composition in a setting full of ideas like the Val di Funes in autumn, this is the workshop for you.

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

A good experience, with good organization in a splendidly unique location. Absolute professionalism and availability on the part of all the teachers who transmitted many interesting notions in a precise but simple way. Good company of the participants. A pity not to participate!!!

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

I am absolutely satisfied with this experience that has in a certain sense revolutionized the way I had of doing landscape photography and enriched my knowledge in a photographic genre that I certainly don’t know enough. Very well prepared and nice teachers (which is very important).
vote 10. Well done!

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

The course organized by Vista guides has joined two of my great passions of all time: the mountain and photography. I found the choice to alternate short and easy walks with shooting sessions to be successful. As always, the presence of the two tutors was precise, punctual and professional and contributed to my growth as an amateur photographer. The choice of places to eat and stay was functional to the program, the company and friendliness as always at the highest levels. I would say a wonderful experience that I recommend to everyone !!!

Testimonial - Dolomites Highlights tour

It was a revealing experience for me, as it opened my eyes to the basic concepts and shooting techniques, which although well known and covered by dozens of photographic manuals, tried live and with people who explain many other nuances, are all another thing.
Without considering the beauty of the places and the goodness of the food, I can say that I brought home a lot.
Thank you
