As for the destination, Provence has some wonderful surprises up its sleeve. It’s certainly not just lavender fields—even though those are highly atmospheric, especially if you catch a vibrant sunset like we did. Plus, it gave me a fantastic opportunity to try night photography, which is an amazing experience if you’ve never given it a go. In my opinion, choosing to go slightly before the traditional rush of early July was a brilliant move—we avoided bumping elbows with crowds of other photographers.

Had an amazing photography experience with Gabriele shooting in Provence. First and foremost, hitting the lavender fields at the perfect hours when the light is low and skimming the ground. Then, of course, we shot in Roussillon (the land of red ocher), the Verdon Gorge, and caught a stunning sunset in Gordes. I even managed to capture an incredible photo of the Milky Way and a star trail following Gabriele’s step-by-step instructions…
